Oh yeah. That was the rumor that this song was about Terry Stamp and Julie Christie who were having a (rumored) affair at the time the song came out. Ray Davies denied that the song was about the two but, rather about two people. That said, there probably is a bit of an homage via the use of the names. It’s pretty easy to feel wistful about Julie Christie though.
